Vampires

Powers: All vampires, except for maybe Faylin, have these basic abilities: Strength, Speed, Night Vision, Silence, Healing and some type of mind powers with which they can create shields, give blows to some enemy, or read/control human minds. Many vampires have less common talents. Collamair has the ability to absorb other vampires' powers. Some vampires have a limited ability to shape change, the power to control emotions, hide invisibly in shadows, or freeze an individual in place.

Weaknesses: Vampires are weak against the sun, against garlic, silver, and all holy objects, no matter the religion. I don't think Christianity is so important that a crucifix is the only thing that can ward them off. Fending them off with Shiva, or a Star of David does just as much, although the effectiveness of the holy object directly depends on the number of followers and believers in that sacred item, and the person who is doing the warding's own beliefs. A forgotten Egyptian god's statue, for instance, would make a young vampire wary because of the past energy put into it, but powerful vampires would take no notice. Some vampires can die from the sun, by beheading, being staked in the heart, or shot in the heart with silver bullets, and all are very susceptable to fire. Of course this is all subject to a vampire's age and power. It's possible to get to a point where there might be nothing that could kill them. All newly risen vampires wake and sleep with the setting and rising of the sun, usually a little before the actual event. As they grow older, they get more powerful and so can wake up before the sunset, or remain awake after it's risen.

Reproduction: My vampires cannot reproduce sexually. They can do it through the sharing of blood, or else, as Collamair does, by infusing the body with vampiric life energy. This is not always a willing process. Sometimes, depending on the body and vampire, just biting a victim and killing it gives enough energy for it to rise as a vampire. Admittedly, the vampires that come from this unplanned way are not always mentally stable or completely physically funtional being more like zombies or beasts than anything. This was the unfortunate fate of Lord Edwardson. It is possible for a strong vampire to bite the average victim several times by the end of which they've acquired enough energy to be a true and undamaged vampire. The magic number for most vampires and victims for this type of raising is three.

Some other stuff: My vampires have reflections in mirrors and they are the kind that need an invitation to enter a personal home or place. Such an invitation can be verbal, it could be a physical motion directed at them, or it could even be written; they are especially fond of the welcome mats that say "come in" on them. They have no souls as the vampire energy is opposite in nature to that of the soul. Either the soul departs before the vampire is raised or the vampire energy destroys it.
There is one vampire to which all vampires could trace back their heritage This vampire is very old, around 8 or 9,000 years.

Where does this take place?

This story is in Ireland, hence the Irish/Celtic/Gaelic names. The year this all starts is in 1555. I make no claims for any outfits worn to be historic or accurate to any degree. The world in which these characters live is similar to our own though enhanced with faeries, magic, and several other unhuman creatures which may appear in the arc in time.

This comic has been going on for quite awhile! But Faylin and Colly aren't even having consensual mansex yet! How long will this story last?

The comic is going on. I don't think I thought through the real extensiveness of it all when I first started. Even if I were halfway though, I would still need another 5 years to finish it. I don't think I'm that far. Even though there was some mansex in the beginning of the comic, I think it would be apparent that it was more of the exception rather than the rule now. If you're reading with the express purpose of seeing mansex, you may want to lookinto another comic, because while this certainly deals with sex, it may not do it with any type of frequency. Also, who says they're ever going to have consensual sex? What if they never get together? Ever thought of that?

Can I have a comment box?

No. You may not. Use the forum.

Can we exchange links?

No. I really only like putting comics up that I read consistently.

Can we do an art trade?

I like the idea of art trades, I do, but I find myself with less and less time to work on them, time I could spend doing my own things. I'm afraid I must decline.
